Pratapgarh, March 31, U.P.Web News. The PTI Correspondent Mr. Umesh Srivastava passed away early this morning. He was suffering from throat cancer for the last several months. His last rites were performed in Allahabad. He is survived by his two sons and a daughter who is married. His wife is the Child Development Program Officer (CDPO) in Pratapgarh.

People were shocked here today when the news came that Mr. Srivastava is no more. He was very popular not only amongst journalists but also amongst common people. A lawyer by profession, Mr. Srivastava was very much inclined to journalism since the beginning. He started as a part-time correspondent of Lok Mitra, then switched over to Nav Jeevan and later got an opportunity to work for the Press Trust of India. He was also accredited by the Department of Information and Public Relations UP. He was also the President of Pratapgarh Press Club.

A condolence meeting of the journalists was held here this afternoon, in which the speakers recalled the contributions of Mr. Umesh Srivastava in the field of journalism and social service.
